The Importance Of Confidentiality For Care & Support Workers
As a care and support worker you are privy to detailed personal information about the clients you work with to provide services. This private information can include medical information, their care, support and mental health plans, addresses, phone numbers and their location during your services.
We will discuss how you, as a care and support worker, can take measures to protect your clients' personal information.
Keeping your clients' personal information confidential builds trust between you and your clients. It will ensure your clients have confidence in you and in the Careseekers platform to protect their right to privacy.
So what sort of information should be kept confidential?

Please do not take any photos of your clients without consent. If you do receive consent to take photos, you must be able to prove that consent was given by the client.

Do not share your clients' addresses with anyone.

Do not share your clients' phone numbers with anyone.

You must not discuss private medical information with anyone outside of the Careseekers team, your client's support coordinator or provider, or family members who are active in their care or to medical professionals if their is a risk of harm.

Do not share information about your clients' locations. For example, if you are out and about please don't share their location without their consent.

Other information relating to ethic or racial origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, health or sexual lifestyle should also be considered confidential.
Please remember that everyone deserves to have their privacy and personal information respected. Failure to do this is a breach of our code of conduct, the NDIS Code of Conduct and the Aged Care Code of Conduct.
