COVID-19 Vaccine Access For Care & Support Workers

As a care and support worker providing services to vulnerable members of the community you are eligible to receive the vaccine as a priority group. The vaccine has also become mandatory for any care worker working in residential aged care facilities to be able to continue working in the facility.

Did you know that the COVID-19 vaccinations are provided free to everyone living in Australia?

Below we detail how you can access your COVID vaccine in each state and territory.

NEW SOUTH WALES

As you are aware we are seeing a serious outbreak of COVID-19 in New South Wales. It has become extremely important that we all receive our vaccines to stay well and to prevent passing on the virus to others. Our team is also finding that increasingly, NDIS participants and recipients of aged care are wanting the people who are supporting them to be vaccinated so it will become even more critical that you receive your vaccine to continue to work in these sectors.

So how do you register for a COVID-19 vaccination?

For a list of clinics where you can get your vaccine, answer the eligibility checker questions.

  • go to the bottom of the eligibility checker page for the link to make a booking
  • click the link to make a booking which takes you to the vaccine clinic finder
  • enter your postcode or suburb
  • review the list of locations on the screen
  • select the nearest location and make a booking.

Please note, you can only browse a list of locations and view the map of vaccination clinics after you complete the eligibility checker. If you are under the age of 40, make sure you select Front Line Health Care Worker. Anyone over the age of 40 is automatically eligible.

For most clinic locations you must have an appointment to get the vaccine.

VICTORIA

In Victoria, you can access your vaccine in a variety of ways:

At a vaccination centre – use the online booking system or call the Coronavirus Hotline on 1800 675 398. For an interpreter, press 0. 
If you or the person that you are booking has a disability and needs additional support to get a COVID-19 vaccine, please visit: Vaccination information for people with a disability, carers, volunteers and disability support workers.
At a participating GP or community health service through the Australian Government Eligibility Checker.

For most clinic locations you must have an appointment to get the vaccine.

QUEENSLAND

you will need to fill in your name, email, date of birth and other details including Medicare Number

  • from the Cohort dropdown menu select Disability Worker
  • Once you have received an invitation to make an appointment for your COVID-19 vaccination, you'll first need to create an account in the booking system. Click here to watch a tutorial on how to do this.

For most clinic locations you must have an appointment to get the vaccine.

WESTERN AUSTRALIA

You will then need to answer some questions to check if you can get a COVID-19 vaccination now, find out where and book an appointment. You can do this for yourself or another person.

If you are aged 40 years or more you are eligible for vaccination. The questions will help you find the right clinic and make a booking.

If you are aged 16 to 39 years you will be eligible for vaccination due to your work as a care and support worker. Please make sure you select this option from the drop down menu.

NORTHERN TERRITORY

All people aged 16 years and over in the NT are eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

Aboriginal people aged 16 years and over

Aboriginal people aged 16 years and over can get the vaccine by contacting their local Aboriginal Health Clinic by phone or by walking in.

Remote Communities

NT Health is working to provide the COVID-19 vaccine to remote communities across the Northern Territory in partnership with Aboriginal Health Organisations.

You can also book your COVID-19 vaccine appointment by calling one of the above Aboriginal Health Clinics or by walking in.

TASMANIA

The Tasmanian Government is running free community clinics across the State.

Clinics will be in place for a limited time and move around. As one clinic closes after delivering the first dose, it will move to another location and its community. The clinic will return to deliver dose 2.

Community clinics are available for both AstraZeneca and Pfizer vaccines.

More locations will be added to the list as the vaccine program progresses.
